Biography

Dr Sadia Hossain is an Epidemiologist with broad public health teaching and research experience. After an Honours (UNSW), Sadia took a deep dive in PhD (UNSW) to explore hospital outcomes of very preterm babies in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Alongside, she was a Data Officer at the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network (ANZNN). After PhD, Sadia worked with diverse public health research groups including chronic disease, SAFER Hospitals - hospital outcomes study utilising big data (Un Adelaide, UOA), prevention of family violence and child maltreatment (BetterStart, UOA), injury, codesigned chronic disease interventions for and with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (Flinders), and integration of Indigenous Knowledges into MPH Epidemiology. Sadia completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology (2020) and an Epidemiological Research Method course taught by Prof John Lynch (UOA 2022) as part of her professional development. At Flinders, Sadia developed an UG Epidemiology course and significantly re-designed an MPH Epidemiology course. Sadia is fluently bilingual (English and Bengali), and keen to harness data skills for better equity research in priority population groups.
