Dr Abhishek Gupta

Adjunct Fellow

Biography

Dr Gupta completed his PhD (2016) in medical nanotechnology from CSIRO and Western Sydney University (Western), as a series of publications. He then worked as a postdoctoral research fellow on an NHMRC-funded project with Ingham Institute and the Nanoscale Group at Western, where he developed a range of contrast enhancement options for the MRI-guided radiotherapy systems. In 2021, he started his independent fellowship with THRI and the School of Science as a Research Support Program Fellow.

Dr Gupta has received multiple research awards for his research in improving the diagnostic potential of MRI through the development of advanced exogenous contrast agents, and MRI method development. His current research focusses on 1) the development of biochemically responsive nanoparticles for the efficient and targeted ‘on-demand’ delivery of drugs and MRI contrast agents, and 2) the development and advancement of the theory and applications of NMR, MRI and relaxometry as vital diagnostic modalities.
