Dr Kimberley Allison
Associate Research Fellow
Biography
Kimberley is an Associate Research Fellow at THRI, where she works on the Out with Cancer project. This study explores the care and survivorship experiences of LGBTI+ individuals with cancer, with the aim of improving culturally competent care and support for this population. Kimberley has been involved in psycho-oncology research for several years through CanTeen Australia, looking at the experiences of adolescents and young adults affected by their own or a relative’s cancer.
In addition to her work in psycho-oncology and LGBTI+ health, Kimberley is currently completing a PhD in Psychology at Macquarie University. Her doctoral research explores the ways in which individuals engage with online communities over time, and how forms of mediated aggression come to be normalised and acceptable within some online groups.
